Xastitkw Michel

Hello friends and relatives, my name is Xastitkw Michel, I am Okanagan and Shuswap. My parents are Inez Pierre from Penticton and Henry Michel from Williams Lake. My maternal grandparents are Caroline Pierre and the late Joseph Pierre. My paternal grandparents are the late Cecilia Michel and the late Prosper Rocky Michel. I am currently a full-time student, a full-time youth worker. I’m involved in community, culture, and our Indigenous ways of life. Last summer I was honored to be a co-facilitator for the first youth Salmon Warriors Gathering in 2022. I am happy to have been asked to return as co-facilitator for this coming year’s youth Salmon Warriors Gathering in June. It is an honour to be singing the opening song for the Bringing the Salmon Home Festival
