Rhiannon Kirton is a new Biologist at Shuswap Band who has been working on the salmon habitat technical study and leading it whilst their other Biologist who has been leading this work, Braydi Rice, is on parental leave. Rhiannon has a BSc in Zoology and an MSc in Geography (with a focus on wildlife and landscapes). She is a member of Bringing the Salmon Home: The Columbia River Salmon Reintroduction Initiative Technical Working group and leads the Habitat technical study. Previous to her work at Shuswap Band, Rhiannon has worked in conservation and ecology around the world including time in Montana, Australia and Nelson, BC. She is excited to be contributing to return of salmon to the Columbia River and the accompanying cultural revitalization it will bring.
