Maryann Yarama is a member of the Secwépemc Nation from the community Adams Lake Indian Band. She resides in Chase, BC where she was born and raised on a ranch. She is mother to two children and has two granddaughters. Her family competes competitively in rodeo and being raised in this lifestyle. Maryann, her children and one grandchild all compete, this provides Maryann the balance she needs to stay emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually well.
Maryann Yarama is the Governance Director for the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council. This position allows Maryann the opportunity to work with the Secwépemc Nation and carry out the mandate of the governance department. Prior to this position Maryann was the Director of Infrastructure and Emergency Services for the Adams Lake Indian Band. She was responsible for overseeing the operation of the Housing, Public Works, Capital and Emergency Services departments. For the past 21 years, Maryann has worked in upper management in First Nations Government.
