Larissa Deneault – Setsé7

“Setsé7 is my given traditional name. I am from the unceded Secwépemc territory. From a young age I was fascinated by nature and all the creatures within it. I’ve learned from my elders to honour and respect the relationship between plants and animals, as well as our roles in protecting them.

“I completed my Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology and Psychology and currently work as a member of the Animal Care team at BC Wildlife Park, which is located within my territory of Secwépemculew. I work closely with the animals and have created relationships with them through training. This allows me to educate guests about stewardship of the land, water and animals and share Secwépemc cultural knowledge.”
