Hazel Squakim

Hazel Squakim is a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and an aunt. She has 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren from her seven children. She has Syilx, Arrow Lakes and Thompson ancestry. She is a language speaker of the syilx language nsyilxcen. She is a member of the Upper Similkameen Indian Band and currently resides in Penticton on the Penticton Indian Reserve. She is a well-known Elder for the Okanagan Nation.
